Just when you thought the streaming wars had reached fever pitch, in comes a new competitor. This one is a bit different from the ‘binge watch popular programming’ approach taken by Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, etc. The approach by Neighbor+ is a far more intimate approach that promises to be immensely entertaining.

With Neighbor+, you get 24-7 access to all the web cameras inside a chosen neighbor’s house. From their laptops to Nest and Amazon Ring cams, you’ll be able to see them from afar anytime, right on your big TV screen or smartphone. It also sounds like a great way to stay socially distant while still keeping tabs on what your neighbors are up to.

But it’s not just a live stream. The service utilizes a proprietary algorithm to scan all the video feeds and turn them into your desired choice of content. Want to see your neighbors’ lives in the form of a sitcom with a laugh-track added? How about a gritty drama? A romance? With the innovative service, you’ll get a new episode made for you every week. You can even invite your neighbors over to watch!

So, how much does it cost? There are said to be 2 tiers for users – a $49.99/mo option which allows you to monitor up to 2 neighbors with their consent. And there’s a $89.99/mo option which allows you to monitor up to 2 neighbors without their consent. All you have to do is allegedly punch in your neighbor’s info and then the service will pull up all the cameras inside the designated homes, including smartphones, laptops, smart cameras, etc.

The folks behind Neighbor+ say they were inspired by the popular neighborhood discussion apps like NextDoor. Only rather than just relying on other people to type, they wanted to cut out any friction between allowing nosy neighbors to keep an eye on what others are up to.

We’re working to figure out the privacy concerns some folks may have and what the team is doing to mitigate. Expect a launch next month – we’ll be there to bring you all the details.

Would you use this kind of service? Would you mind others watching your life in the format of a sitcom similar to WandaVision or the Truman Show? Let us know by mentioning @ProductLeaker on Twitter and Instagram!

Excited for WandaVision! And this new streaming platform, of course. A bit pricey, though.
